As we accelerate our commercial growth out of Lisbon's leading tech hubs, we are continually forced to confront the harsh realities of the legacy construction market. The traditional building model isn't just broken structurally — it is fractured logistically. Global supply chains are volatile, freight emissions are skyrocketing, and the carbon cost of transporting heavy building materials across continents completely undermines the concept of "green" building.
We believe that true sustainability requires looking at the entire lifecycle of an asset, starting with where its raw ingredients are sourced.
Today, EcoDomeHomes and the M45 sister brands — M45 Systems and M45 Agri-Tech — are proud to announce our absolute commitment to a 100% Portuguese domestic supply chain for all our European building projects. Every continuous concrete shell and agricultural structure we erect will be built using materials sourced, refined, and manufactured right here in Portugal.
Decoupling from the global supply chain.
When we say 100% domestic, we mean it. Traditional legacy builders across Europe rely heavily on imported materials, exposing their timelines and budgets to international shipping delays, port bottlenecks, and currency fluctuations.
By anchoring our manufacturing loop locally, we insulate our operations from macroeconomic volatility. Our clients will benefit from highly predictable project timelines, stable material cost-parity, and the knowledge that their high-performance structures didn't require a massive transoceanic carbon footprint just to arrive on-site.
The anatomy of a local supply chain.
Our advanced structural system — which replaces timber framing with seamless concrete shells — relies heavily on advanced materials science. Fortunately, Portugal possesses the rich natural resources and industrial infrastructure required to feed our production lines entirely from within its borders:
- Advanced Structural Reinforcement We have entirely eliminated steel rebar from our builds to eradicate rust degradation. Instead, our structures are reinforced using high-performance composite rebar made from regional mineral rock. We are tapping directly into regional advanced polymer and composite networks to source and manufacture this high-tensile, rust-free armor locally.
- Localized Liquid Stone Our structural concrete mixes, which form the core continuous shell of our builds, are mixed and deployed using 100% Portuguese aggregates and cement formulations. By sourcing concrete components within regional radius parameters, we maximize local economic multipliers while drastically reducing transit emissions.
- Domestic Insulation and Fabric Systems The specialized, high-density insulation components and custom-engineered pneumatic shaping forms that give our structures their aerodynamic, disaster-proof geometry are fabricated through Portuguese industrial partnerships.
"If you are shipping materials across an ocean to build an eco-friendly home, you are missing the point. To build truly climate-resilient infrastructure, your supply chain must be as impervious as the building itself."— Christopher Garner, Founder
Investing in the Portuguese economy.
This commitment is a direct reflection of our partnership with native entrepreneurship and local innovation. Working closely with Portuguese research networks, regional development boards, and local manufacturers allows us to keep high-value manufacturing jobs within the country.
We aren't just setting up an international business that uses Portugal as a playground; we are embedding our entire industrial ecosystem into the fabric of the country. From residential eco-communities to our specialized M45 Agri-Tech division focused on resilient agricultural infrastructure, our building pipeline will directly fuel Portuguese businesses, quarries, labs, and logistics networks.
The future is permanent, resilient, and local.
The era of the disposable building — and the sprawling, fragile supply chains that feed it — is coming to a close. By combining advanced physical engineering with a fiercely localized sourcing model, we are proving that the future of housing can be both hyper-advanced and deeply rooted in local soil.
We are proud to build the next generation of permanent, carbon-negative European infrastructure using the incredible skill, wealth of materials, and industrial brilliance of Portugal.
